The Award is given by the Democratic State Central Committee to a woman from each Congressional District that has a proven record of political volunteerism on behalf of Democrats for years. Pat has been an active volunteer for over 30 years in every campaign as well as organizing phone banks for many individual candidates. This award will be presented on Friday October 16th at The Aqua Turf in Southington, Ct.
Pat was nominated by Pat Gately, East Hartford’s State Central Committee person and her nomination was supported by Town Chair, Bud Salemi and Mayor Melody Currey. This is an honor for both Pat Begley and East Hartford Democrats.
Pat’s selection was officially announced last week and in support of the event and Pat’s Award, the Annual First District Columbus Day Dinner and the presentation of the Distinguished Democrat Award will be rescheduled to next Spring. The First District and Town Committee Executive Board respectfully request that the Town Committee make an effort to support this event in lieu of the Columbus Day Dinner and hopefully each District will be represented by two or three Town Committeepersons along with Pat’s family and friends. This event has been well attended in recent years and we hope to have a good showing in support of our own Pat Begley and all the women who have made such a difference for Democrats here in Connecticut.
Please contact Pat Gately regarding tickets for the event. Proceeds beyond the cost of the event will go to Democratic State Central, the sponsor of the Award.
